Why are we afraid of “Mathematics” despite its use in every single minute of our life? As a Mathematician, when I get into the class or a friend’s gathering, everyone asks why I chose Mathematics while it is a dry subject full of abstract theories and less physical relevant applications, and I am expected to be good in arithmetic.

Let me tell you why I chose Mathematics. There are a lot of definitions of Mathematics. Among them, my favourite is ” Mathematics is a language Allah has written the universe in ” The study of Mathematics equips humans with knowledge, skills, and exercise for the mind that are essential for a successful life. Higher technology requires higher Mathematical skills. Computers understand only machine language, and the second name of machine language is a binary number or number system of base 2. Modern computing platforms, use 16-, 32-, or 64-bit words, further divided into eight-bit bytes, and eight-bit-bites or octal will be further converted into a binary number.

Even sports critique requires Mathematical skills. For instance, In cricket, If the batsman hits the ball at a 45-degree angle, the ball will cover the maximum distance. On the other hand, it depends on many other factors as well.

In addition, a person who sells fruits, vegetables, and grocery items such as pulses and spices, is good enough in estimation. They have a good idea of approximation of mass without a measuring tool. Along with that, they are also good in sums more than ordinary. A Carpenter, Plumber, and Electrician follow a pattern in the direction to complete their tasks efficiently. Moreover, the guess of estimating the length is near exact. An artist who sings is used to controlling the intensities, loudness, and pitch of sound for the sake of creating a pleasant voice. The popular painting of Monalisa by Leonardo da Vinci is famous because of the use of the golden ratio in it. The tile and marble setter know more design than usual.

To sum up, there are plenty of applications of Mathematics in the material world. Mathematics is not just a subject but an art, and a Mathematician is an artist. It is not just about arithmetic. Everyone doing Mathematics sometimes expresses it and every so often without knowing it. A Mathematics teacher needs to make a friendship bond with Mathematics then it will convey to their students, and they develop the ability to solve word problems in every situation and other fields.

    1. I agree with your statement, primarily students like teachers instead of a subject so this is what I said last ” A mathematics teacher needs to make a friendship bond with mathematics “

  2. very interesting article and relevant to children’s real world. I enjoyed it. keep the writing spirit high. good luck

  3. The article very well explained implication of basic mathematics in real life situations why it is important to have logical reasoning and mathematical skills so that one can explain any action through facts and figure. It is also very important for teachers facilitating their learners developing their relational understanding of mathematics in their real life situations.
